2012 Qianhe – Cross-Country Hiking Team Race Starting Scene

On December 15, 2012, with a thousand participants trekking together for a good cause, the first “Qianhe – Cross-Country Hiking Team Race” kicked off at Guangzhou’s Huolu Mountain Forest Park. Over 600 people from more than 150 teams across Guangzhou and surrounding areas hiked a 34-kilometer mountain trail. As one of the main sponsors, KAILAS showed great enthusiasm, with over 10 teams and nearly 50 employees taking part. This event, following the Guangzhou Marathon, became another large-scale group fitness activity, sparking a new wave of outdoor exercise enthusiasm among Guangzhou citizens.

Pre-Race Registration Site

Whether professional running enthusiasts or busy white-collar workers seizing a break, all participants found freedom and enjoyment in reconnecting with nature. As is well known, the route of the “2012 Qianhe – Cross-Country Hiking Team Race” is one of Guangzhou’s most famous hiking trails, crossing several scenic forest parks to the north of the city. The route started at Huolu Mountain Forest Park, passed through continuous mountain ranges in the middle section, and finished at Longyandong Forest Park, covering a total distance of 34 kilometers divided into 5 to 8 segments. Along the way, participants had to climb over several hills and mountains including Huolu Mountain, Piglet Mountain, and Phoenix Mountain, all ranging from 200 to 300 meters in elevation.

After an intense and determined race, all KAILAS employee teams successfully completed the rugged cross-country course. Among them, the four-person team that included KAILAS professional photographer Feng Fuhong, who also competed last year, once again secured fourth place. This marked the best result achieved by KAILAS employees in the history of the COOLWALK Hiking Race.

Unlike previous Cross-Country Hiking Races, the 2012 Qianhe – Cross-Country Hiking Team Race was jointly organized with the Guangdong Disabled Persons’ Federation for Public Welfare and the Guangdong Qianhe Community Public Welfare Foundation. The event organically integrated outdoor sports with charity, making public welfare more experiential and participatory. At the same time, it promoted healthier and more environmentally friendly ways for people to engage in public service through outdoor activities.

As a KAILAS employee team, they were not professional athletes, but they loved sports, life, and nature. With perseverance and team spirit, they challenged their limits. These ordinary KAILAS employees fielded the most enthusiastic cheer squads and support teams, along with a large number of bold and determined runners. Well done, live fully—this is how life should be, free and unrestrained!
After the race came the highly anticipated awards ceremony. The organizing committee drew multiple major prizes, and many participants had a blast—not only enjoying endless fun but also receiving gift packages sponsored by KAILAS and other partners. On this unforgettable weekend, laughter and victory belonged to the participants, to everyone who embraced the outdoors, and to the city of Guangzhou.
       Introduction to Trail Running:
A medium to long-distance running event conducted in natural outdoor environments. The marathon originated from trail running. It is a fashionable way to build endurance, patience, and perseverance.
