Leaders from the General Administration of Sport of China, Fujian Province, and Fuzhou City, along with the public, celebrated the New Year by hiking up Mount Gu.

Organized by the General Administration of Sport of China, the National New Year Hiking Event is a 17-year-old national fitness brand activity. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people take part. Over the years, it has become an essential event for sports and fitness enthusiasts across the country to kick off the new year.

The event site was packed with energetic and excited participants.

On January 1, 2013, nearly ten thousand people at the foot of Mount Gu in Fuzhou, Fujian, celebrated the arrival of the New Year through a hiking event. By climbing, they kicked off the year with a wave of national fitness enthusiasm, promoting the theme “Hike for Fitness, Welcome the New Year; Exercise Scientifically, Live Happily.” The event was covered simultaneously by CCTV and local TV stations in Fujian Province via helicopter aerial footage and exclusive interviews.

The EZON Yizhun 30-person hiking team stood ready to depart.

As a supporting unit of the event, EZON Yizhun was awarded the title of “Official Hiking Watch for the 2013 National New Year Mass Hiking Fitness Event” by the organizers.

Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, delivered the opening speech.

Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, and leaders from various sectors in Fujian Province jointly fired the starting gun.

After the starting gun sounded, hiking enthusiasts rushed up over 1,800 steps, passing through the ancient hiking path of Mount Gu—over 2 kilometers long and with a history of a thousand years—to reach the summit. They also interacted with five other branch venues in Jilin’s Beidahu, Shaanxi’s Cuihua Mountain, Hunan’s Chaling, Xinjiang’s Snow Lotus Mountain, and Sichuan’s Qingcheng Mountain, showcasing the vibrant scene of New Year’s hiking and fitness through a combination of distinctive traditional fitness activities from across the country.
