Racing on Changbai, Igniting New Year Energy
Ready for Action
On January 2, 2013, the "Energy Red Bull vs. Changbai — First Northern Regional Skiing Competition," sponsored by Red Bull Energy Drink Company and organized by Green Field Outdoor, was held at the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Ski Resort for the Northeast Division. As the first preliminary event of the overall competition, it attracted over 30 snowboarding and alpine skiing teams, with a total of 100 participants. After intense racing and competition, the winning pairs from the Changchun Extreme Sports Club and the Yanji Snow Mountain Flying Fox Club claimed the Northeast Division championships in the snowboarding and alpine skiing categories, respectively. They will represent the Northeast Division in the final championship.
Female Team Members Competing
The format of this competition was team-based pursuit racing, breaking away from the conventional individual format. Each team consisted of two males and one female. Therefore, the performance of the female members played a crucial role in the overall team ranking. During the race, the female athletes proved that they could more than hold their own — their speed and skill were on par with the men, and their vibrant presence became one of the highlights of the event.

Taking place around the New Year, the competition saw high enthusiasm among participants despite the cold weather. Racers sped and chased down the slopes, enjoying the thrill of competitive skiing while unleashing their passion — fully embodying Red Bull’s brand message: Your energy exceeds your imagination.

During the awards ceremony, several foreign participants excitedly performed last year’s viral horse riding dance, bringing the atmosphere to a fever pitch. Award winners commented: "After the first preliminary round, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of the new competition format. We’ll continue training hard to achieve better results in the finals."

The finals of the "Energy Red Bull vs. Changbai" First Northern Regional Skiing Competition will take place again at the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Ski Resort on March 2, following preliminary rounds in the North China and Northwest divisions. By then, the difficulty level of the final course will be raised even further. Let’s look forward to outstanding performances from the finalists and an energy-filled ski season.
