Tired of walking? Rent a bike. Got tired of cycling? Take a break. Feeling hungry? Enjoy a hearty meal... On your journey along the greenways, service stations along the way will be ready to provide services.
The city may set up 70 service stations
Whether you're strolling or cycling on the greenways, there must be places to rest. In Hefei’s greenway network plan, first- and second-tier service stations will be set up outside the central urban area to concentrate service facilities.
However, no service stations will be set up within the central urban area. Instead, service nodes will be flexibly integrated with urban commercial and public facilities.
A total of 16 first-tier service stations are planned across the city. Of these, three will be newly built, eight will be integrated with public service facilities at scenic tourist spots, and five will be integrated with villages.
A total of 54 second-tier service stations are planned across the city. Of these, nine will be newly built, 29 will be integrated with public service facilities at scenic spots, 10 will be integrated with villages, and six will be integrated with urban public facilities.
A rest stop every 10 kilometers
According to the design, first-tier service stations will be spaced no less than 20 kilometers apart and located along regional and urban greenways. They will be situated at intersections of greenways, near major attractions and villages.
Second-tier service stations will be spaced no less than 10 kilometers apart and located along regional greenways, urban greenways, and urban greenway branches. They will also be near major attractions and villages.
Stations offer parking, food, and bus services
First-tier service stations are larger and offer more comprehensive functions than second-tier ones.
First-tier service stations are equipped with lounges, restrooms, changing rooms, internet cafes, financial service points, greenway shuttle bus stops, motor vehicle parking lots (with refueling, maintenance, and washing services), bicycle rental and parking spots, open-air tea houses and fast-food outlets, police stations, souvenir shops, and emergency help stations. If located near water, they will also have water rescue capabilities.
The relatively simpler second-tier service stations are also equipped with drinking water points, restrooms, telephone booths, bicycle rental spots, medical aid points, and greenway shuttle bus stops.
Bikes can also be rented at stations and roadside locations
While walking along the greenway, you might also want to ride a bike for fun. Don’t worry if you didn’t bring one—bike rental spots are available along the greenway.
First, bikes can be rented at both first- and second-tier service stations.
According to the planning, in addition to being located at service stations, bicycle parking areas should be set up every 10–15 kilometers.
In addition to bicycle parking at service stations, roadside parking facilities will be set up along the greenways.
Roadside parking facilities will also be set up near scenic spots, points of interest, viewing platforms, and other landscape nodes along the greenways. These will accommodate 6–10 vehicles and provide short-term parking for greenway users. This ensures that visiting more scattered attractions won’t be too tiring.
