  Appropriate Clothing Thickness
When engaging in fitness activities during winter, start by wearing more layers of clothing. The clothes should be light and soft, not too tight. After warming up, you should remove some of the heavier garments. After exercising, if you sweat a lot, you should promptly dry off the sweat and change out of sweaty workout clothes, shoes, and socks. At the same time, dress warmly and cover your head to prevent heat loss. Additionally, when working out outdoors in winter, pay extra attention to staying warm. After exercising, your body heats up significantly and you may feel inclined to cool down, but you must never stand in windy areas to get chilled. Instead, return indoors as quickly as possible, dry your sweat, and change into clean clothes. As the saying goes: “Cold starts from the feet.”
This is because human feet are far from the heart, receive less blood supply, and have thin subcutaneous fat, resulting in poor insulation.
Therefore, during outdoor winter workouts, it’s especially easy to feel cold in the feet. If your head, back, or feet get cold, cold air can enter the body through pores and the mouth or nose, not only reducing the effectiveness of your workout but also making you susceptible to catching a cold or getting sick. Some fitness enthusiasts prefer to wear training shoes all winter, but this isn’t advisable. Rubber-soled shoes conduct heat quickly, and when not exercising, the soles of your feet can easily get cold, potentially leading to conditions such as chilblains or arthritis.

Comfortable Environment
In winter, people tend to keep the gym windows tightly shut. What they don’t realize is that in a state of rest, the human body exhales over 20 liters of carbon dioxide per hour. With more than ten people exercising simultaneously, that amounts to over 200 liters per hour. Add to that the byproducts of sweat and undesirable gases expelled by the digestive system, and indoor air can become severely polluted. Exercising in such an environment can lead to dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and loss of appetite, naturally resulting in poor workout outcomes. Therefore, when exercising indoors, it’s essential to ensure the air is circulated and fresh. Also, in winter, it’s not advisable to exercise in courtyards filled with coal smoke and murky air. Additionally, pay attention to avoiding outdoor workouts in extremely poor weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy snow, or excessively cold temperatures. If you do wish to exercise outside, choose a sunny and sheltered spot.
