The 2013 "Snowfly Cup" National College Students' Alpine Skiing Competition will be held on January 22–23 at Beijing Yuyang Ski Resort. Nearly 30 university teams from across the country will participate. This marks the seventh consecutive year the event has been held.
With China’s rapid economic development, winter sports — especially skiing — have seen increasing participation. Skiing has become a top choice for winter fitness and leisure, and is especially popular among students. Each year, the number of participating schools and athletes in the "Snowfly Cup" National College Students' Alpine Skiing Competition continues to grow. The continuous social ski instructor training programs organized by the Chinese Ski Association have promoted the popularization and improvement of college skiing.
In the 2011 and 2012 National Mass Alpine Skiing Competitions, the team composed of Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Beijing Institute of Technology achieved excellent results. It is reported that the 2013 "Snowfly Cup" National Alpine Skiing Competition, to be held on January 22–23 at Beijing Yuyang Ski Resort, has attracted nearly 30 university teams from across the country. During the two-day competition, students will showcase their other side on the snowy slopes.
This competition is hosted by the Beijing University Sports Association, organized by Beijing Yuyang Ski Resort, and supported by the Chinese Ski Association. At the pre-event press conference, a representative from Shanghai Snowfly Industrial Co., Ltd., the title sponsor of the event, stated that they will continue to support the development of college skiing and contribute to the improvement of skiing standards in China.
