American hotels let Siri be your personal butler: voice-control room devices and get local recommendations

With the advancement of high-end technology, the future of hotels is bound to take on a new look. For example, some U.S. hotel chains are already using iPads with Siri, the voice-controlled assistant, to serve guests in high-tech rooms — controlling temperature, lighting, music, and more — all through simple voice commands.

According to Lonely Planet, the Aloft Hotels chain has introduced this technology at its Boston and Santa Clara locations, bringing a fresh experience to its established properties.

Moreover, guests can order room service via text message. Not only that, but entering the room no longer requires a physical key — access can be gained through a smartphone.Siri acts like a personal assistant; guests can even ask, “Hey Siri, what attractions are nearby?”

The hotel hopes this new style of service will attract tech-savvy travelers, and in the near future, guests will be able to personally experience how technology is transforming the way we travel.
