　　First: Avoid carrying passengers frequently. According to China's traffic laws, electric bikes are not allowed to carry passengers over the age of 12. This is because the motor of an electric bike functions similarly to an engine — when the load increases, a proportionally stronger motor is needed to maintain operation. This additional power demand is placed directly on the battery, causing it to consume more electricity to support the excess weight. As a result, frequently carrying passengers is one of the reasons why battery range is reduced.
　　Second: Pay attention to brakes. Common types of brakes on electric bikes include drum brakes, band brakes, and disc brakes. Generally, disc brakes are used on faster electric motorcycles and perform better. Drum brakes are more effective than band brakes, which are often found on bicycles. Some band brakes can become so noisy over time that the braking sound is louder than the horn — very harsh on the ears — so be especially mindful when purchasing an electric bike. Over time, the brake pads inside the brakes wear down significantly, which can lead to brake failure. It is recommended to choose electric bikes equipped with disc brakes, as they offer better ventilation and allow the brake discs to cool efficiently, resulting in stable braking performance. However, many consumers report that even after repairs, the charger doesn’t last long — it’s often better to buy a new one that will last longer and perform better.
