On March 17, Polish professional cyclist Krystian Herba rode his bicycle to the 100th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center in Shanghai, pedaling up 2,754 steps in a feat that challenged the Guinness World Records.
Around 11:00 a.m., Krystian Herba began his stair-climbing journey on a seatless bicycle. This time in Shanghai, he took on the challenge of reaching the 100th floor via 2,754 steps. During the attempt, he was not allowed to use his hands or feet to support himself against the ground or walls to maintain balance. Ultimately, starting from the first-floor lobby of the Shanghai World Financial Center, Krystian crossed 2,754 steps in 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 53 seconds, successfully reaching the “world’s highest observation deck” on the 100th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center.
Throughout the challenge, someone was on hand to film the entire process of the attempt and the breaking of the “Guinness World Record”; meanwhile, another specialist provided him with water, monitored his pulse, and managed the timing.
When asked in an interview why he kept taking on such challenges, Krystian responded, “It’s like asking a mountaineer why they climb Mount Everest instead of just staying home. It’s a kind of strength, a desire to strive, to go higher, better, faster — to conquer records while also overcoming your own weaknesses.” As for his next goal, Krystian smiled and said, “My next challenge might be right nearby — the Shanghai Tower next to the World Financial Center. But in the future, I will take on skyscrapers in other countries.”
