The United States will implement a new online appointment system for visa interviews starting in March, shortening the visa processing period; the UK has reduced visa fees from April onwards; Australia has cut down on the types of visas available. Recently, several popular tourist destinations have begun implementing new visa facilitation policies to attract more Chinese visitors. Travel agency insiders noted that China has become the world’s most important outbound tourism consumer market, and an increasing number of countries are placing greater emphasis on the Chinese travel market.
Starting from March 16, the U.S. Embassy in China and all consulates will launch a new visa system where applicants can book interview appointments online, pay fees electronically, and collect their passports at CITIC Bank branches. With the new system, not only can applicants reschedule interview times online, they can also check the status of their visa applications and find out when to pick up their passports. Meanwhile, applicants may continue to use the call center for appointments or inquiries, but these services will no longer incur a fee.
At the same time, UK authorities have announced that starting this April, the visa fee for visiting the UK will be reduced to £80. This visa is valid for six months and allows multiple entries into the UK, whereas the Schengen visa only permits a single entry and is valid for three months.
A representative from Caissa Travel stated that previously, some tourists had to cancel their trips to the UK and the U.S. due to visa issues. With the implementation of the new visa policies and simplified procedures, it is expected that the number of Chinese tourists traveling to the UK, the U.S., and other destinations will increase this year. As European and American countries gradually enter their best travel season with warmer weather and blooming flowers, the new policies are expected to trigger a small surge in the number of visitors to the UK, the U.S., and similar destinations in the near future.
