⊙ Preface
The State Council issued the National Tourism and Leisure Outline (2013–2020), notifying all to implement it. The outline clearly states the advancement of national tourism and leisure infrastructure construction, strengthening the development of tourist facilities such as motels, RV campsites, and cruise and yacht terminals. It also emphasizes increasing policy support and gradually boosting funding for public tourism and leisure services. It encourages private investment in leisure infrastructure and the development of unique leisure routes and high-quality tourism products.
The Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, seizing the opportunity presented by the State Council’s Outline, is committed to creating two major clusters: distinctive tourism and leisure products, and diverse tourism and leisure investment enterprises. The goal is to establish Chongqing as a nationally and internationally renowned tourism and leisure destination. This will lead the development of related industries in western China, including the yacht industry, RVs, outdoor sports, fishing, self-drive tours, and specialized leisure sectors. At the same time, it will accelerate the rapid development of tourism and leisure bases and campgrounds across Chongqing and its western districts and counties.
The 4th China Chongqing International Leisure Industry Expo will further drive the rapid development of the western leisure industry, and has become the premier exhibition and trading platform for the sector in the west.
⊙ Market Background
The outdoor sports industry is an emerging sector still in its nurturing phase, with unlimited potential. The western region boasts abundant natural tourism and outdoor activity resources, providing a natural breeding ground for the growth of the outdoor industry. Chongqing has unique advantages in developing the outdoor industry, with inherent strengths in outdoor tourism resources, notably through the Wulong International Mountain Outdoor Open. Promoting the outdoor industry through outdoor tourism is a distinctive approach in Chongqing. With numerous outdoor tourism sites, the Three Gorges outdoor tourism brand has become world-renowned. As the most open city in the west, Chongqing sees the fastest growth in outdoor sports and related goods, making it the best choice for national outdoor goods dealers and manufacturers looking to tap into the western market.
