“The number of sports facilities is an indicator of whether Guiyang can achieve moderate prosperity in sync. Therefore, the data from this sports facilities census must be accurate so that the state can allocate resources accordingly, and Guizhou needs to include mountainous outdoor sports venues to highlight its unique characteristics.” On the afternoon of March 28, the Guiyang citywide sixth national sports facilities census deployment meeting was held, where Zhao Xuemei, deputy director of the Guiyang Municipal Sports Bureau, conveyed the relevant document spirit to personnel from various districts (cities, counties).
According to the notice, Guizhou has become one of the three pilot provinces. It is worth mentioning that, in addition to conventional facilities such as school and government sports infrastructure, mountainous outdoor sports venues have been included as a key part of this census—such as rock climbing sites, fitness trails, and water sports courses.
Guizhou’s sports facilities have been increasing significantly, but its per capita sports facility area remains low compared to the national average. The province’s mountainous and watery terrain has given rise to many irregularly shaped sports venues, where people hike, trek, climb, and go rafting… offering a wide variety of mountainous outdoor activities. However, prior to the fifth national sports facilities census, mountainous outdoor sports venues were not included, which contributed to Guizhou’s lower per capita sports facility area. The national plan to develop Guizhou into a major mountainous outdoor sports province has drawn attention from relevant authorities, leading to the construction of numerous outdoor sports facilities at scenic spots. It is precisely due to Guizhou’s recent efforts in promoting mountainous outdoor sports that the province was chosen as the first pilot site for the sports facilities census.
