In 2012, TNF100 first introduced the "cup-free" environmental concept in the tandem hiking category. This year, TNF100 will continue to uphold this eco-friendly initiative by fully adopting a "cup-free event" approach across all categories. No bottled water or disposable paper cups will be provided at any water or supply stations during the event. All participants must bring their own drinking utensils to refill water (it is recommended to carry a collapsible cup, which is available on major e-commerce platforms). Protecting and cherishing nature requires the participation and support of every participant!
The TNF100 Beijing International Endurance Running Challenge is one of The North Face 100 series of events in the Asia-Pacific region. First held in 2009 in Changping District, Beijing, it was the first 100-kilometer trail running event ever held on the Chinese mainland. In 2013, the event will move to Mentougou District, Beijing, featuring a brand-new course and competition format that pushes the limits of difficulty. According to the organizers, this year’s race is different from previous editions—the cumulative elevation gain and loss of the course reaches 5,000 meters, and over 60% of the sections are dirt trails, significantly increasing the technical off-road challenge and making the course more professional. The competition will focus on the 50-kilometer and 100-kilometer categories, aiming to create an internationally competitive trail running event with a more professional group of runners. Additionally, as the only race in China linked to the UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) qualification points—the world’s most prestigious ultra-endurance trail running series—participants who complete this race may earn UTMB qualification points and become eligible to compete in UTMB events.
