Ultimate Adventure Journey Team Departure
As the first stop of the "Seeking the Explorers Around Us" event, the Ultimate Adventure Journey will be led by Wang Jing (Fei Xue Jingjing), a renowned Chinese mountaineer, record-holder for the most climbs of 8,000-meter peaks in China, and co-founder of Explorers. She will guide two explorers as they head toward the South Base Camp of Everest in Nepal, embarking on a journey to find those with the spirit of perseverance and courageous challenges.
The "Seeking the Explorers Around Us" event has been successfully held twice since 2011. This year’s theme, "Dare to live, and you will have lived," focuses on finding ordinary people who have bravely lived for their ideals. The competition format differs from the previous two editions. The entire event consists of an online platform and preliminary selection stops in five cities including Beijing and Chengdu. Sixteen winners from each stop will advance to the knockout rounds, and the two final winners who complete all tasks will, under the guidance of their respective mentors, travel to five extreme regions to experience the brave polar journeys organized by Explorers. In addition to significant differences in personnel selection and scale compared to the previous two editions, this year’s selection of volunteers places greater emphasis not only on physical fitness and outdoor experience but also on seeking those with brave hearts. It aims to inspire more people to forge their own life paths through the contestants’ past experiences and their persistent pursuit of dreams.
In addition to mountaineer Wang Jing, the mentors for the five competition stops include four others: Chen Liangzhong — Eco Explorer; Li Shuankuo — Humanities Explorer; Yu Yuntian — Spiritual Explorer; and Wang Feng — Rock Explorer. They will lead volunteers to five ultimate destinations: Extreme Majesty, Extreme Spirituality, Extreme Beauty, Extreme Sanctity, and Extreme Joy.
The online preliminary selection for the second stop — the Extreme Spirituality destination, Baima Snow Mountain — has already begun on the official Explorers website. The city-level preliminary selection is also expected to start in early May.
