Alim Wubuxasimu promotes environmental protection and drug prevention during his trek, doing something meaningful for society.
Alim Wubuxasimu, known as the “Running Brother” of Xinjiang, set off from Yitunbulake Town in Ruoqiang County and completed a 300-kilometer race-walk in three days, arriving safely in Ruoqiang County on the afternoon of April 1.
The 27-year-old Alim Wubuxasimu is a sports-loving farmer from Mazha Village, Mazha Township, Yining County, Xinjiang. Whenever he finishes farm work, he practices running. He once ran to Beijing in 67 days, crossed the Taklamakan Desert in eight days, visited Tibet, and walked across Hainan Island. On March 25 this year, he flew to Urumqi and then to Golmud in Qinghai. Due to weather conditions, he chose Yitunbulake Town in Ruoqiang County as his starting point. He set off on March 29 to race-walk 300 kilometers and arrived at Ruoqiang County at 4:11 p.m. on April 1.
On the afternoon of April 1, when Ruoqiang was hit by a Grade 4 sandstorm, the harsh weather did not affect him. In front of the stadium, reporters saw Alim Wubuxasimu showing the joy of victory, waving the five-starred red flag and drawing many onlookers as he displayed anti-drug banners.
Alim Wubuxasimu said, “Race-walking is my passion. I can’t just farm. While taking care of my family, I want to realize my dreams—promote environmental protection, promote drug prevention, and do something meaningful for society.” The endpoint of his race-walk is Korla, from where he will depart on April 2.
