This year has seen a sharp decline in the number of mainland tourists visiting Taiwan. Recently, it was reported that three hotels in Taitung — Weilong Grand Hotel, Hawaiian Resort Hotel, and Zhongyue Grand Hotel — have closed one after another due to lack of business. In response, the Taitung County Government clarified that only Zhongyue Grand Hotel has indeed decided to cease operations due to the drop in mainland tourists, and will soon apply to the county government to cancel its hotel registration. The other two hotels are not closed.

The Taitung County Government stated that after verification, Weilong Grand Hotel is still operating as usual, while Hawaiian Resort Hotel suffered severe damage from Typhoon Nepartak and is currently under emergency repair. As a result, it has temporarily suspended accepting guest bookings and is expected to resume operations in the near future.
