On Earth Day, April 22, the "2013 China Fitness Mountains Mountaineering Race" themed "Beautiful China, Charming Mountains and Rivers" was launched at Beijing Poly Plaza. This event is currently the largest thematic touring mountaineering race in China. It is jointly organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the China Association of National Parks and Scenic Sites, and is held annually. This year’s race will be held in five scenic areas: Huashan Mountain in Shaanxi, Sanqing Mountain in Jiangxi, Jinhua Mountain—Shuanglong Cave in Zhejiang, Kongtong Mountain in Gansu, and Heavenly Lake in Xinjiang, comprising five legs. At the launch ceremony, the event was officially started as leaders from the organizing bodies—the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the China Association of National Parks and Scenic Sites—the executive organizer Shanshui Minghe Media, and the five scenic areas pressed the launch button together. Registration for the race also commenced. Leaders including XX from the Chinese Mountaineering Association, XX from the China Association of National Parks and Scenic Sites, and others attended the event.

Registration for the "2013 China Fitness Mountains Mountaineering Race" will be available through multiple channels including online, phone, and designated registration points. It is reported that the organizing committee has expanded offline registration points this year, with many major outdoor sports clubs and athletic clubs across the country becoming designated registration spots for the Fitness Mountains Race. This move is also aimed at further lowering the entry barrier and encouraging more members of the public to participate in the China Fitness Mountains Mountaineering Race.
