The nearly one-month-long "I Want to Be on Midi" band selection for the Shenzhen Midi Music Festival concluded successfully on April 20 at Shenzhen Urban Caiye Plaza. After intense live competition, Hong Kong's Deep Inside band and Changsha's Gorgeous Jacket band won the championship and runner-up respectively, while Hong Kong's Counterflow band and Shenzhen's Nomads band tied for third place. These four bands have secured a direct pass to the 2013 Shenzhen Midi Music Festival, where they will perform alongside domestic and international headliners from May 17 to 19 at the Shenzhen Universiade Center.

The call to gather for the 2013 Shenzhen Midi Music Festival has sounded, and the rock army is uniting once again. From May 17 to 19, the Shenzhen Universiade Center will host a three-day, multi-thousand-person grassland youth carnival. The lineup includes not only Cui Jian, Tang Dynasty, Zi Yue Qiu Ye, Xie Tianxiao, Yaksha, Escape Plan, but also Wooden Horse & Third Party, Brain Failure, Twisted Machine, King Lychee (Hong Kong), Chochukmo (Hong Kong), Yin Yang, Zuoyou, Toy Boat, Chuan Zi, Zhong Lifu, Yang Jiasong, Song Yuzhe, Why Oceans (Macau), and over 50 other top Chinese rock and folk acts. Additionally, more than ten international acts from Germany, the UK, the US, Italy, Finland, South Korea, and other countries will join in the celebration. Moreover, 20 DJs and numerous talented young bands will also take the stage at Shenzhen Midi.
The content of the 2013 Shenzhen Midi Music Festival is richly diverse. In addition to the four main stages—Tang (Rock Stage), Ming (Folk Stage), Yuan (Electronic Stage), and Kids Midi—organizers have partnered with Caiye Urban Plaza, Zongzheng Audi, China Overseas Holy Court, Tianjian Westin Hotel, Caiye Keyu Hotel, Hong Kong Daoxianghua Cuisine, and Harley (Shenzhen) to set up nearly ten interactive zones for fans, including camping areas, beer and food courts, and creative flea markets. The Shenzhen Midi Festival is sure to be the biggest youth celebration of the year across the nation this May.
