According to NBC News, 32-year-old American dance coach Adrianna was watching last week’s Boston Marathon when an explosion occurred. Her left lower leg had to be amputated due to severe injuries. Faced with the sudden blow, Adrianna was deeply saddened at first. But she eventually pulled herself together and said she would continue dancing and also take part in next year’s Boston Marathon.
In an interview with The Boston Herald, the resilient Adrianna said she had not given up on herself. She wants to recover alongside the city of Boston, which has also endured a tragedy. “I’m still going to dance,” she said. “I want more people to know that one can come out of despair and become even more tenacious and stronger.” She also stated that although she had never been a runner, she plans to take part in next year’s Boston Marathon. A physical therapist in Boston noted that with today’s advanced prosthetic technology, Adrianna likely has a good chance of continuing her dancing dreams.
