In May 2013, the International Hiking Federation Congress will be held in Belgium. As the only candidate city from mainland China for the International Hiking Federation’s urban membership this time, Beijing is expected to officially join the International Hiking Federation. To jointly witness this milestone moment in the history of hiking in Beijing, members of the Wanbu Network have spontaneously organized a trip to Belgium to cheer for Beijing's bid!
The International Hiking Federation is a global organization dedicated to promoting and popularizing hiking activities, currently comprising 24 member countries. As an Olympic city, Beijing has been committed to advancing hiking both within the city and across the nation. If Beijing successfully becomes an “International Hiking City” this time, it will greatly benefit the development of hiking in Beijing—not only by boosting the local hiking movement and providing hikers with a professional, international exchange platform that moves Beijing’s hiking initiatives toward international standards, but also by attracting hiking enthusiasts from around the world to gather in Beijing, thereby promoting the development of hiking tourism in the city.
The Wanbu Network has long been committed to promoting the widespread adoption of walking in China, spreading the healthy philosophy of “10,000 steps a day, lasting health” across the nation. As a council member of the Beijing Hiking Association, the Wanbu Network has organized numerous walking activities in Beijing, achieving positive social impact. It has also actively promoted the development of walking nationwide, with cities such as Jiangmen and Dongguan having established walking as a municipal-level mass sports activity. The Wanbu Network also actively responds to international hiking and walking events, aligning China’s walking movement with global standards.
