According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, Canadian Chris Holm has ridden his unicycle across China’s Great Wall, through the jungles of Bolivia, descended into a 6,000-meter volcano, and climbed up Mount Everest. Whether facing cliffs or rugged mountain peaks, he fears no challenge.
According to Holm’s website, he has appeared in over 200 media outlets worldwide and became the first rider to bring mountain biking to mainstream audiences through film, television, and magazines. He said: “A unicycle can go just as many places as a two-wheeler. While two-wheelers are faster on flat ground, there’s not much difference on rugged mountain roads.” Surprisingly, Holm can reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour (approximately 80.5 kilometers per hour), and in the 2010 seven-day BC Bike Race, he became the first unicyclist to beat two-wheelers.
In 1986, at the age of 12, Holmes began riding a unicycle. His talent was evident as early as the 2005 European Championships, the 2002 World Cup, and the 1999 North American Unicycle Championships. He has also written a book about his adventure experiences.
