According to news from the Chinese Mountaineering Association on the 17th, the five-day National Mountain Rescue Technology Training Course has concluded in the Shihai Scenic Area of Xingwen County, Sichuan.

A total of 32 participants from 14 mountain rescue organizations across Sichuan Province attended the training, including those from Ganzi Prefecture, Jinyang, Nanchong, Leshan, Zigong, Luzhou, Yibin, Siguniang Mountain, Sichuan Tourism College, Sichuan Normal University, and Chengdu Sport University. Prior to this, the participants had just taken part in the 2013 National Mountain Outdoor Sports Skills Competition held in Wen County.

The training course began on the 13th. The instructors were veteran mountain rescue experts from Sichuan Province who are familiar with the region’s mountain outdoor sports conditions. During the training, they provided instruction on mountain rescue theory and techniques, including the selection and use of individual and team rescue equipment, basic search theory and methods, fundamentals of wilderness first aid, knot tying, ascending and descending techniques, and stretcher hoisting.

Luo Shen, head of the Mountain Expedition Department of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, stated that training, seminars, and drills in mountain rescue serve as key entry points and important tools for the association in building a rescue system for mountaineering and outdoor sports. Standardizing and promoting rescue techniques can not only enhance local rescue capabilities and ensure successful rescues, but more importantly, elevate the emphasis on safety and improve conceptual understanding.

“The Chinese Mountaineering Association will gradually establish a collaborative working mechanism involving government, rescue organizations, and volunteers, effectively improving the management and supervision mechanism of ‘service, guidance, and regulation,’ and increasing training for local mountain rescue volunteers in both concepts and techniques,” said Luo Shen.

This Mountain Rescue Technology Training Course was organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and hosted by the Sichuan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association.
