On the 23rd, the 2013 China Changchun Jingyuetan Vasaloppet International Forest Hiking Race was held in the Jingyuetan Scenic Area. At 9:30 a.m., the adult Vasaloppet 30-kilometer, 15-kilometer, and 7.5-kilometer hiking races commenced with the firing of the starting gun. City leaders Gui Guangli and Guan Shusen attended the event.
In 2008, the Swedish "Lidingö" International Forest Cross-Country Running Race officially came to Changchun. Starting in 2011, to expand the scale and influence of the event, it was officially renamed the Vasaloppet International Forest Hiking Race. This year’s hiking race attracted more than 4,000 participants from over 20 countries and regions, including Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Russia, and the United States, among them over 1,300 professional hikers.
In addition to continuing the previous concepts of fashion and healthy sports, the organizers have continuously innovated in terms of details. In terms of course design, this hiking race placed greater emphasis on professionalism and user-friendliness. The 15-kilometer hiking route added variations by passing over the Vasaloppet Bridge, with more sections designed along the lakeside, allowing participants to enjoy the beauty of Jingyuetan while experiencing the joy of the sport.
During the race, performance groups such as the orchestra from Sweden's Motala Kumlans Musikskola and the Russian dance troupe "Sail of Youth" delivered wonderful performances for the audience. At the main entrance square of Jingyuetan, an international outdoor products exhibition attracted many foreign visitors and local citizens.
