In the height of summer this July, the ancient capital of Nanjing will welcome its annual outdoor industry event — the 2013 Asia Outdoor Trade Show. The show will take place from July 24 to 27. This year, the exhibition will cover an area of 52,000 square meters, with over 600 exhibitors expected to participate. The four-day event will be open only to trade visitors, and the total number of professional attendees from both home and abroad is projected to exceed 25,000.
Asia Outdoor originated from the European Outdoor Show and is a professional exhibition tailored specifically for the Asian outdoor products market. The show has received strong support from the Nanjing Municipal Government and the Friedrichshafen Municipal Government in Germany. Asia Outdoor and the European Outdoor Show work closely together, complementing each other across the East and West, providing an excellent platform for information exchange that facilitates the development and expansion of the outdoor industry in both Europe and Asia. After eight years of growth, in terms of exhibition scale and number of exhibitors, Asia Outdoor has become the world’s third-largest professional outdoor trade show, following only the European Outdoor Show and the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City, USA.
After several years of rapid development, China’s outdoor products market has become increasingly rational and stable. According to research, while the growth rate of China’s outdoor products market is gradually slowing in 2013, it is still expected to reach over 30% for the year. Since being listed as a project supported by China’s Ministry of Commerce in 2012, the Asia Outdoor Trade Show has played a significant role in promoting the development of the outdoor industry and economic cooperation, gaining widespread recognition within the industry. The increase in exhibitor numbers and the enthusiasm for registration among trade visitors at the 2013 Asia Outdoor Trade Show indicate that this year’s outdoor industry outlook is promising.
It is reported that domestic and international brands such as Toread, Kailas, BC Sport, Mountain Hardwear, Skogstad, and Deuter will continue to participate in the Asia Outdoor Trade Show this year, with average booth sizes increasing by more than 30%. At the same time, new participants including The North Face and Li-Ning ADVENTURE will also join the outdoor exhibition family for the first time.
The supporting activities at this year’s exhibition are sure to be a major highlight for attendees:
2013 Asia Outdoor Industry Awards — In addition to the “Gold Award,” “Silver Award,” “Eco Award,” and “Women’s Product Award,” a new “China Original Design Award” has been added this year. Award-winning products will be displayed in prime locations on-site.
Outdoor Fashion Show — With dynamic music and passionate performances, outdoor brand apparel will be showcased in all its glory on this stage, continuing to be a major crowd-pleaser every year.
Climbing and Bouldering Zone — This year, Asia Outdoor will collaborate with the China Mountaineering Association, The North Face, KAILAS, and other brands to host the Asia Outdoor China Bouldering Open at the exhibition venue. There will also be high-altitude rescue demonstrations and training, mountaineering lectures, celebrity interviews, and other exciting activities in the climbing area, offering climbers a great opportunity to learn and practice.
Slackline Zone — The outdoor show, in partnership with Deuter and other brands, will hold the “GIBBON Super Riders Selection – 2013 Asia Outdoor Trade Show Station.” The top eight finishers will join the “Super Riders Team” in the Chinese region, while other winners may receive prizes such as shoes from Dolomite, backpacks from Deuter, and cash awards.
Asia Outdoor Industry Development Forum — Industry experts will engage with attendees to discuss hot topics in industry development, providing a platform for exchange and learning.
Tent Display and Experience Area — More than ten companies, including The North Face, KAILAS, Vaude, Mobi Garden, Himal, Dragon Walker, and Penghai, will showcase distinctive tents, sleeping bags, mats, and related products featuring new technologies and materials, creating an immersive outdoor experience zone for visitors.
In addition to the above activities, this year’s exhibition will introduce a new indoor activity: “Tree Climbing.” This sport allows participants to swing freely between trees at a height of several meters off the ground using specialized equipment, reminiscent of Tarzan.
Furthermore, exhibitor NORTHLAND (Northland) will collaborate with famous actor Chen Kun and his major charity campaign, “The Power of Walking,” to focus attention on the Asia Outdoor Trade Show. Skogstad will also host its own 10th birthday party at the event.
