Legendary New Zealand mountaineer Russell Brice and Chinese female mountaineer Wang Jing will jointly deliver a keynote speech at the 2013 Asia Outdoor Industry Development Forum, sharing the joy of mountaineering with outdoor enthusiasts. They will also discuss a range of issues related to commercial mountaineering activities both in China and abroad.
Russell Brice is an internationally renowned New Zealand mountaineering adventurer who began exploring the Himalayas and other regions at the age of 22. To date, Russell has climbed in over 20 countries and is revered by international mountaineering enthusiasts as the “Prince of the Himalayas.” He is also one of the world’s well-known commercial mountaineering organizers.
Wang Jing is one of the legendary figures in China’s outdoor community. She is a co-founder and board member of the Chinese outdoor brand Toread, as well as a renowned Chinese female mountaineer. Within just five years, Wang Jing summited seven peaks over 8,000 meters in elevation and set foot on both the North and South Poles. Whether in the outdoor industry or the mountaineering community, Wang Jing stands out as a top-tier “peak woman.”
The keynote speeches by Russell and Wang will focus on the similarities and differences between domestic and international commercial mountaineering, exploring the various challenges that arise during the commercialization of mountaineering and outdoor sports. The speakers aim to propose a commercial mountaineering model that aligns with China’s national conditions while connecting with global standards, thereby developing a systematic approach to high-altitude mountaineering.
The keynote speech will take place from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on July 25, 2013, in Meeting Room B02 at the 2013 Asia Outdoor Industry Development Forum. Related activities will also be held at the Toread brand exhibition booth.
