Free New Attraction Alert: Taiwan Also Has a Dreamy Rose Forest Like in Europe

Miaoli also has a rose forest that feels like you've stepped into Europe. The "Avene Tangerine Rose Forest," built by a domestic skincare company and opened for trial operation in April this year, has introduced tens of thousands of roses from around the world, along with lush tangerine trees blanketing the hillsides, creating a highly dreamlike new attraction in Miaoli. It is free for the public to visit and take photos.

Covering an area of over 13,000 ping, the Avene Tangerine Rose Forest is located near Mingde Reservoir in Touwu Township, Miaoli County, sharing a similar terrain. During development, large areas of tangerine trees were preserved, and 600 varieties of roses transplanted from countries around the world were added, aiming to create a beautiful rose forest. Combined with surrounding garden features, such as hollowed-out heart tunnels, Eiffel Tower replicas, Tokyo Skytree models, fountains, and rose walls, it's very photogenic.

The buildings are designed as green architecture, with the side of the main structure featuring a specially made fair-faced concrete wall to reduce direct sunlight and regulate temperature, keeping it warm in winter and cool in summer, in a minimalist style. Nearby, the glass house is designed to look like five small row houses, offering dining and DIY craft workshops.

After enjoying the flowers and taking photos outside, you can head inside the main building to enjoy the air conditioning and stroll around. The main building includes a cosmetics sales area, a rose water display area, a food zone, and a Rose Story Museum. A major highlight of the museum is a remarkably lifelike 3D mural of a European town, featuring cute architecture paired with flowers and plants, making visitors feel as if they’ve truly arrived in Europe. Almost every visitor stops to take photos here.

Trial operations began in April, opening only part of the area. It wasn't until the end of July that the remaining sections of the Avene Tangerine Rose Forest were fully opened. Some have noted that the number of roses seems fewer than expected. In fact, different rose varieties bloom at different times. But spring and autumn, when the climate is cool but not overly hot, are seasons when more roses are in bloom. It is recommended to visit during these two seasons to see more flowers.
