Following the recently concluded camping and hiking competition, the Luya Mountain Scenic Area in Shanxi has once again become the center of attention: the scenic area will introduce a people-friendly leisure program, offering visitors from all over a refreshing and delightful “cooling tea” during the hot summer days.
Attracting tourists to visit during non-weekend periods for a refreshing escape from the heat
According to reports, the Luya Mountain Scenic Area is implementing a phased promotional campaign titled “Summer Ice and Snow Season.” The main feature is offering an 20% discount on admission tickets for visitors who come to Luya Mountain for a cooling leisure trip between July 8 and August 31, specifically on Mondays through Thursdays—i.e., non-weekend times during the summer vacation period.
In addition, to pay tribute to educators, teachers can enjoy a 50% discount by presenting their work ID. To accommodate students after the high school and college entrance exams, those with admission tickets can also get a 50% discount. To promote their understanding of Shanxi culture, visitors holding sightseeing bus tickets can also enter the Fenhe River Source Scenic Area for free.
Responding to the Shanxi Provincial Tourism Bureau’s “Beautiful Shanxi Leisure Travel” initiative
According to Wang Quan, General Manager of the Luya Mountain Scenic Area, the original intention behind launching this special promotion is to respond to the “Beautiful Shanxi Leisure Travel” campaign launched by the provincial tourism bureau in May (under which state-owned or state-controlled scenic areas offer a 20% discount and other preferential policies to both domestic and international visitors during peak seasons). As a private enterprise, despite facing significant operational pressures, the Luya Mountain Scenic Area, inspired by the spirit of the “Beautiful Shanxi Leisure Travel” initiative, strives to make its due contribution as a corporate citizen to social harmony and people’s happiness.
Due to the scattered distribution of attractions within the Luya Mountain Scenic Area, the scenic site faces considerable reception pressure during weekends. Meanwhile, Dongzhai Town, which serves visitor functions such as accommodation, dining, and transportation transfers, also deals with heavy reception loads. Therefore, to avoid an overall decline in the quality of the tourist experience, the scenic area has scheduled its discount promotion for non-weekend periods.
Greater discounts for online ticket purchases
To facilitate visitors, the scenic area has been working with travel e-commerce platforms such as Ctrip, Qunar, Tongcheng, and Lvmama to sell tickets. Purchasing bundled attraction tickets online can enjoy discounts of up to 20%, or even 40%. Currently, the scenic area is formulating an online ticketing policy for non-weekend periods, and it is expected that the discounts will be even greater.
The Luya Mountain Scenic Area is located in Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, and features nine attractions including the Ten Thousand Year Ice Cave, Cliffside Plank Road, Fenhe River Source, Luya Mountain, and Malun Grassland. Renowned for its legendary cultural heritage, beautiful ecology, and pleasant climate, it is an important destination for tourism and leisure for people from Shanxi Province and surrounding areas seeking respite from the heat.
