A hidden paradise even more beautiful on rainy days—Discover the "Secret Garden" in Jeju’s Siryeong Forest Path

If you ask Koreans about travel destinations in Jeju Island besides the well-known Teddy Bear Museum and Hallasan Mountain, many will recommend “Siryeong Forest Path (시령임도),” because it offers stunning scenery in all four seasons and has a unique charm even on rainy days. The Korean drama “Secret Garden” was also filmed here, making it a scenic gem unique to Jeju.

“Siryeong (시령)” means “sacred place” in the Jeju dialect. Visitors can take the Jeju sightseeing bus to Siryeong Forest Path and immerse themselves in nature. The approximately 15-kilometer-long cedar forest trail offers an extremely relaxing experience, and the fresh, green-shaded environment is truly refreshing. In the Korean drama “Secret Garden,” the forest where the female lead, played by Ha Ji-won (as Gil Ra-im), gets lost and is searched for by the male lead, played by Hyun Bin (as Kim Joo-won), is this very place. After fans found out, many came here to find their own leading characters.

The road of Siryeong Forest Path is gentle and suitable for hikers of all ages. If you’re lucky, you might even spot wild animals taking a stroll in the forest. Though it doesn’t attract many foreign tourists, it’s a popular spot for many Korean visitors and locals to enjoy a walk. Especially on foggy mornings, the air feels incredibly fresh, and you can sense the moist, refreshing atmosphere. You might even see various forms of wildlife—this is a highly recommended trail.
