Double rear-wheel bicycle designed for retirees in Moscow
The city of Moscow, Russia, has designed convenient and safe bicycles for senior retirees and established bicycle rental stations to provide them with a new form of entertainment and fitness.
According to reports, the most notable difference between these specially designed bicycles for seniors and regular bicycles is that they have two rear wheels. This ensures a smoother and safer riding experience for the elderly. Retired individuals can use the bicycles for free on designated dates by presenting their Moscow residence permit or retirement certificate. Moreover, such bicycles are intended solely as a recreational option for retirees and will not replace their primary means of transportation.
The initiator of the project stated that providing such social services to retirees reflects societal respect for them and offers opportunities for physical exercise. He also suggested building safer and more comfortable pathways for retirees. Currently, Moscow has set up three such bicycle rental stations, with plans to increase their number in the future.
