20132013 NORTHLAND Cup Sanfo Outdoor Mountain Measuring Heroes Trail Running Race – Nanjing Station on7the25evening at18o’clock30local time, the race commenced and concluded successfully at21o’clock that night. Despite the scorching heat of midsummer, more than300participants signed up. Many friends and family members also came to support, making the atmosphere as lively as the summer heat. Runners from all over the country who love outdoor sports and nature raced along the13kmentire course.
Detailed guidance and good organization made the event feel more like a gathering
Many people are drawn to outdoor sports because of the unique atmosphere among outdoor enthusiasts. There’s always a smile on their faces, they are considerate and orderly toward one another, they love nature and care for family and friends. Though they may not know each other, once they come together, they form a warm and joyful big family. The author could fully sense these unique charms upon arriving at the event. An unfamiliar older brother offered various technical tips for summer running, volunteers in the sunshine directed people on where to check in and store belongings, and strangers kindly offered to take photos. Everyone had smiles on their faces, and the warmth of people under the blazing sun made the heat feel much gentler. By6o’clock in the afternoon, the sun had quietly hidden behind thin clouds, and a gentle breeze blew, creating ideal weather conditions for the runners.
During the most challenging part of the race — a continuous uphill climb — the author almost considered giving up, slowing down both speed and stride. Many unfamiliar runners who passed by either asked if help was needed or offered words of encouragement, filling the race with a familial warmth.
As it was a night run, reflective road signs were visible almost everywhere along the route, and staff members were stationed at major intersections to remind participants to stay safe. There was almost no litter on the course. Even tourists who had come up the mountain to see fireflies would stop to cheer on the runners.
