On July 26, the “GIBBON Super Riders Selection Competition — Asia Outdoor Exhibition Station” wrapped up successfully at 4 p.m. today. The champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up all come from the Guangzhou Sport University: Lu Fenghua, Li Kangchao, and Lu Anmin respectively. Champion Lu Fenghua won with the advantage of performing moves at a higher difficulty level and executing them flawlessly.
Lu Fenghua’s coach, Mr. Weng Jiayin from Guangzhou Sport University, introduced that this slacklining competition is a freestyle event, originating in Germany, Europe, and only introduced to China in the past two or three years. Slacklining combines elements of tightrope walking, street dance, trampolining, gymnastics, and yoga, featuring competition moves such as (front and back) flips, twists, balances, and somersaults, with scores given based on difficulty level and execution. During the competition, Lu Fenghua consistently performed moves at the highest difficulty level of 4, and executed them extremely well. “Although Lu Fenghua has only been practicing slacklining for 10 months, he has a high aptitude and learns quickly. I believe he’ll be able to compete with top European athletes in less than a year,” said Coach Weng Jiayin, who has great confidence in his protégé.
