Although there are many places to go horseback riding these days, during this summer vacation, either they’re overcrowded or overly commercialized. For those of us who love scenic horse rides, this kind of atmosphere is truly a pity. Isn’t there a peaceful place where we can gallop freely?
Our group of seven drove 350 kilometers to reach Taipusiqi, in search of this relatively untouched destination. Upon arriving in Baochang, we were warmly welcomed by Lao Si and Guo Li from Xiongpen Horse Farm. We’d like to extend our thanks to Lao Si and Guo Li here.
On the morning of the third day, Lao Si took us to a local authentic Mongolian restaurant for a traditional Mongolian meal. Xiao Ma didn’t dare eat too much, fearing it would make him uncomfortable while horseback riding. The rest of us ate until we were full, even saying that we wouldn’t need lunch out on the grassland — one meal could last the whole day. Hahaha...
After a hearty breakfast, we were full of energy. We drove deep into the grasslands to a herdsman’s home, where we prepared the horses and packed our gear. I brought along a large bottle of 50 SPF sunscreen — originally meant for Qicang Valley, but I barely used it there. With the blue skies and white clouds this time, it was time to put it to use. Once everything was ready, it was time to mount up and set off.
This time, our group merged with two others — the Snow Wolf and Fox teams — making a total of over twenty people. The youngest was eleven years old, and the oldest wasn’t a hundred yet, haha... Everyone had excellent horseback riding skills. We rode in formation, front to back, left and right, fully enjoying the thrill of galloping across the grasslands.
