Recently, at an athletics competition held at Kagoshima Prefectural Yachiku Track and Field Stadium in Japan, 90-year-old Japanese grandmother Sumiyo Morita ran the 100m in 23.80 seconds, shaving over 27 seconds off the national record for the women's 100m senior category in Japan. She also set a new world record in the women's 200m senior category. Japanese media called Sumiyo Morita the "90-year-old Bolt."
Despite setting a new Japanese record, 90-year-old Sumiyo Morita is not satisfied. She revealed that she once ran the 100m in 21 seconds during training, and her goal is to break the world senior 100m record of 23.18 seconds.
