Recently, in response to reports from Beijing hiking enthusiasts about scattered trash in the Da Haiduo National Nature Reserve in Hebei, our website published the article “Say No to Littering – Don’t Turn Da Haiduo into a Trash Sea,” calling on tourists to travel civilly and protect the environment. The article received positive responses from many netizens. On September 14 and 15, over 60 Beijing netizens spontaneously organized a cleanup activity, hiking into the nature reserve to collect various types of tourism-related waste.
Over 60 netizens set out from Beijing on September 14. Upon arriving at the nature reserve, they not only focused on cleaning up white pollutants such as milk cartons, plastic bags, and mineral water bottles, but also volunteered as “environmental ambassadors,” distributing eco-friendly brochures to visitors to Da Haiduo Mountain to promote environmental awareness and advocate low-carbon travel. Inspired by their efforts, many tourists also joined in the activity, helping to collect trash and carrying the filled bags down the mountain. “I have deep feelings for Mount Haiduo. When I saw recent reports about the increasing amount of trash here, I was deeply moved and immediately contacted fellow netizens to organize this event,” said the activity leader, a netizen nicknamed “A Zan Wen,” in an interview with reporters. By the end of the event on September 15, more than 150 kilograms of trash had been collected.
“The Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays are approaching, marking the annual peak travel season. We hope more people will join environmental protection efforts, travel civilly, protect nature reserves, and voluntarily carry waste down the mountain for proper disposal,” said “A Zan Wen.”
