Recently, Officer Wang from Qingdao’s Hailun Road Police Station spotted a thief and prepared to apprehend him. The thief bolted down the street, looking back triumphantly as he ran. Officer Wang gave chase and after running two kilometers, easily caught the thief. The former 800-meter athlete thief asked in confusion, “What do you do for a living, brother?” Officer Wang calmly replied, “I run marathons.” The thief was instantly stunned.
“I’ve chased thieves before. Normally, under stress, most people’s legs give out after running just one or two hundred meters. Someone who can keep going a whole station’s distance without slowing down is almost certainly trained. After he bumped into me, I could tell he had great physical conditioning. If I tried to take him head-on, I might not have the upper hand. But I’m a marathon runner — when it comes to running, I can keep up with him all day without resting. As long as I stay on his tail, I’ll wear him out sooner or later, and then I’ll catch him,” said Officer Wang.
