According to Canada’s Ming Pao Daily News, Amy Tso, a Chinese-Canadian woman from Surrey, British Columbia, recalled that during her first hike up the Grouse Grind trail on Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, she found it difficult to breathe and kept gasping for air. However, last Friday, she became the female record holder by completing the climb 1,000 times, earning the title of the true “Queen of the Grouse Grind.”
Now 31 years old, Tso’s parents are immigrants from Hong Kong, and she herself was born and raised in Vancouver. Tso revealed that she first hiked the famous North Shore trail in 2005, and by 2009, she began hiking regularly, going up and down several times a day. Gradually, her friends gave her the nickname “Queen of the Grouse Grind.”
