Ladies and gentlemen:
Welcome to today’s press conference.
The 3rd Asia Bike Show opens today in Nanjing. Our goal is to establish the Asia Bike Show as the premier professional exhibition in Asia dedicated to sport bikes, premium bicycles, cycling apparel, and accessories, and to spare no effort in boosting the development of China’s sport bike market.

How big is China’s sport bike market?
Three years ago, when we were preparing for the first Asia Bike Show, we considered this question. And it’s not just us—this is an important issue that concerns everyone in the industry. According to relevant research, in 2012, China produced a total of 82,800,000 bicycles, of which 57,200,000 were exported, and there were 396 large-scale manufacturers. Domestic sales reached 25,600,000 bikes (excluding imported ones). In 2012, the total production of e-bikes was 35,000,000, marking a 13% increase compared to 2011.

According to information from the China Bicycle Association, the sales of sport bikes in 2012 amounted to approximately RMB 6.9–7.2 billion, with a growth rate of about 30–35%. Information from major brands and dealers shows that the market maintained this growth rate in the first half of 2013.

Good news from the market: The average price of sport bikes increased by 40%, mainly due to the growing number of imported premium bikes and significant improvements in design and quality by domestic brands.

How many sport bike dealers are there in China?

We estimate there are 8,000–10,000 sport bike retail outlets nationwide, 70% of which are single-brand stores. We predict that multi-brand dealerships will increase significantly in the coming years.

How many bike clubs are there in China?

Many bike shops in China have their own cycling clubs. According to cycling magazines, we identified 10,000 cycling clubs across China, 566 of which are officially registered and regularly active.

All these data points are interesting, but brands, agents, and dealers need more reliable research reports. Beijing Demens is strengthening its existing research team and plans to release more in-depth bicycle industry data next year.

Back to this year’s Asia Bike Show: The concept of our show is to build an international bicycle community. This year, a total of 394 exhibitors from around the world attended the show, a 65.54% increase compared to last year. Among all brands, 80.5% are international.

This year, the indoor exhibition area covers 26,000 square meters, the outdoor area 10,000 square meters, with a total scale of 36,000 square meters. All brands will showcase their 2014 new products.

We are proud to promise:“Visitors have never seen so many new sport and premium bikes exhibited as early as early October; especially this year, all 394 exhibiting brands at the show will present their 2014 new products. This sets the Asia Bike Show apart from any other exhibition in China.

Must-see at the show:The In-Show Exhibition. Hall B’s In-Show Exhibition is a dedicated area for brands to showcase their highlight products, featuring the most unique, luxurious, and innovative high-end bikes on the market. This year’s In-Show Exhibition has particularly attracted new brands from the U.S. and Europe to display their 2014 models.

" E-mountain bikes: Mountain biking becomes easier and faster with electric assist support
" All-terrain bikes: Featuring wide and thick tires, suitable for various terrains such as off-road and snow riding
" Bikes used by world champions or Tour de France racers

Side events:

The diverse side events at the show are also highly anticipated, such as Demo Day, fashion shows, outdoor test tracks, etc. Industry forums and lectures on-site will cover topics such as rider training, shop management, and transforming traditional bike shops into sport bike stores.

Global renowned bike brands attending:
Such as Canadian brand Cervelo, American brands Cannondale, Specialized, Scott; Swiss brand BMC; French brand Look; Italian brands Pinarello, Colnago; Spanish brand BH; German brands Ghost, Cube, Haibike, Bergamont, Corratec; Japanese brand Shimano, Taiwanese brands Gusto, Fuji, etc. The show will feature 394 exhibitor brands showcasing their latest products and technologies, and we look forward to your visit. The first two days of the show, October 10–11, are open to trade visitors only, while the last two days, October 12–13, are open to the public.
