The "2013 China · Guizhou · Jinsha National Mountain Speed Challenge," jointly organized by the Mountaineering Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, and the People's Government of Bijie City, will take place from October 24 to 27, 2013, in Houshan Township, Jinsha County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province.
According to the New Projects Department of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the competition events are divided into:
Women’s Vertical Race: approximately 50 km in route length, with a cumulative elevation gain of about 1,500 m; cutoff time is 7 hours;
Men’s Vertical Race: approximately 50 km in route length, with a cumulative elevation gain of about 1,500 m; cutoff time is 6 hours;
Team Relay Race: approximately 10 km in route length, with a cumulative elevation gain of about 500 m; cutoff time is 6 hours.
The men’s and women’s vertical races in this National Mountain Speed Challenge are both 50 km, making it the longest course in the history of the Mountain Speed Challenge series.

Jinsha County is located in the northwest of Guizhou Province and the east of Bijie City. It borders Zunyi to the east, Guiyang to the south, and the Chengdu-Chongqing area to the north. Situated within the Central Guizhou Economic Zone, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and the Pan-Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, it is one of Guizhou’s economically strong counties, one of China’s top 100 counties in western China, and one of China’s most investment-potential distinctive demonstration counties.
Originally named Dagu Xinchang, Jinsha County was established in 1941. Its name is derived from the first characters of “Jinbao Tun” (Golden Treasure Village) and “Shaxi Ba” (Sand Stream Dam) within its territory, symbolizing the ancient saying “picking gold from sand,” which implies careful selection and refining the essence. The county covers a total area of 2,528 square kilometers, governs 26 townships and 244 villages (communities), and has a population of 670,000, comprising 15 ethnic groups including Han, Miao, and Yi.
Jinsha is one of China’s 50 key coal-producing counties and an energy base for the “West-to-East Power Transmission” project.
Jinsha boasts rich tourism resources. The area features beautiful mountains and rivers, pleasant scenery, and a pleasant climate, with a forest coverage rate of 47%. Attractions include the Sanzhangshui Provincial Forest Park, the Lengshuihe National Wetland Reserve, the Qian Zhuangfei Martyrs’ Cemetery, the site where the Red Army crossed the Wu River southward, and the Andi Hot Springs.

IV. Eligibility Requirements:
(I) Each organization may enter only one team, with a maximum of 6 members per team. This includes 1 team leader or coach and 5 athletes (gender ratio 3:2, i.e., 3 men and 2 women among the 5 athletes). All team members must participate in both the hill climb and vertical race. Teams with fewer than 5 athletes are not eligible for team ranking.

IV. Eligibility Requirements:
(I) Each organization may enter only one team, with a maximum of 6 members per team. This includes 1 team leader or coach and 5 athletes (gender ratio 3:2, i.e., 3 men and 2 women among the 5 athletes). All team members must participate in both the hill climb and vertical race. (II) Athletes must be in good health, with no heart, brain, or other conditions that would make them unfit for high-intensity sports (a health certificate from a county-level or higher hospital is required).
(III) All team members must wear a unified team outfit during the competition (full-team uniform).

VI. Ranking and Awards:
(I) A valid result will be recorded if participants complete the day’s course within the stipulated time.

(II) Final rankings are determined by the shortest completion time for each sub-event; shorter times rank higher. In case of a tie, rankings will be shared with no further ranking below. The team event requires all 5 team members to complete the relay, with each athlete covering the required 10 km route and completing the handoff within the designated zone.
(III) Total prize money is 100,000 RMB. The top 12 finishers in both the Men's Individual Vertical Race and the Women's Individual Vertical Race will receive certificates and prize money. The top 8 teams will receive prizes and certificates (trophies will be awarded to the top three teams).
(IV) Awards include “Outstanding Athlete Award,” “Sports Ethics Award,” and “Perseverance Award.”
