Who says people can't multitask? According to a report by the UK's Daily Mail on October 21, 41-year-old graphic design professor David "Babcock, who is from Central Missouri State University, knitted a 13-foot-long (approximately 3.9 meters) scarf while running a marathon, thereby breaking the Guinness World Record. In response, Babcock donated his race earnings to the Alzheimer's Foundation, and he also hopes that this feat will provide more inspiration for his children.

On the 19th local time, Babcock participated in a marathon held in Kansas City and was determined to break the previous Guinness World Record set by Susie Hewer. The scarf he ultimately knitted was more than double the length of the one created by Susie’s record, and he completed the run in 5 hours, 47 minutes, and 27 seconds. It is reported that back in April 2012, during the London Marathon, Susie knitted a scarf that was 6.75 feet (approximately 2 meters) long.

Since 2010, Babcock had been separately engaging in knitting and long-distance running. However, because both activities are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and somewhat monotonous, he decided to challenge himself by combining the two. Over time, Babcock developed his own unique routine for knitting while running. To prevent accidental injury, he used plastic knitting needles and attached pistons to the ends of the needles to keep the scarf from slipping off.
