Recently, Shenzhen Himalaya's 2013 Professional Staff Training Program kicked off in Beijing. As the first stop of the centralized training, the Beijing session primarily invited outdoor retail staff from North China to receive professional product knowledge training. This initiative serves as an effective and efficient communication channel between brands and frontline sales personnel, and also contributes to the cultivation and advancement of China’s outdoor specialty market, playing a positive role in improving the quality of industry professionals and promoting standardized development.
The "Professional Staff Training Program" is a long-term initiative launched by Shenzhen Himalaya aimed at enhancing the outdoor product expertise of staff in specialty outdoor retail stores. In response to the common challenges faced by outdoor retailers—namely the desire to increase the proportion of professional products and improve staff expertise, but lacking systematic training and exchange opportunities—Shenzhen Himalaya, as a key distributor of professional outdoor gear, timely introduced this program to meet industry needs.
The two-day training program focused on eight international brands and three major product categories represented by Shenzhen Himalaya Trading Co., Ltd. Core content included technical knowledge about climbing equipment from Black Diamond (BD), camping gear from CDI brands such as MSR, THERMAREST, platypus, and PackTowl, as well as technical insights into footwear and apparel products from OUTDOORRESEARCH (OR), VASQUE, and zamberlan. The training also emphasized common issues encountered during sales and after-sales service.
A participant from Beijing Haicheng Outdoor said after the training, “Previously, I only learned about gear usage through rock climbing activities, and my knowledge was quite limited and covered just a small part of the equipment field. Through the two-day training, I gained a deeper understanding of BD’s brand history, products, and performance. I also learned about other products I hadn’t been exposed to much before, such as MSR, Platypus, and OR, which are not directly related to climbing. I hope the organizers will hold more training sessions like this!”
During the training, a staff member from Sanfo Fangzhuang store in Beijing shared his experiences and insights from the sales process. He summarized, “When we promote products to consumers, we are also seeking a sense of mutual recognition.” Only with that recognition can trust be built, which in turn attracts more consumers to specialty outdoor stores. This training program is designed to enhance consumer trust in both sales staff and brand products, strengthen the relationship between brands and retailers, and inject energy into sustainable development.
After successfully concluding the Beijing training session, another session will be held in East China in November.

Before the training concluded, participants took a simulated assessment to help reinforce their learning. Those who completed the assessment successfully were also awarded a certificate of completion issued by Shenzhen Himalaya.
