October 30 — According to Taiwan's Today News Network, Lin Yaruo, a former China Airlines flight attendant and popular writer, died in a cycling accident in Australia on the evening of the 27th. Her social media post from the 19th has left many feeling deeply saddened.
Born in 1982, Lin Yaruo described herself on her social media profile as: "A woman who looks normal but has a crazy heart. Solo bike trip around Taiwan, solo traveler to 40 cities in India. Former China Airlines flight attendant / writer / poet / American nurse / international volunteer." She also mentioned that she was currently taking it easy in Europe, and asked people to email her if they needed anything. In addition, she allowed free downloads of her e-book, Free India Travel. Known for her good looks, she was a frequent guest on TV shows and had been featured in magazine photo shoots.
She loved cycling trips. Most tragically, on October 19, Lin Yaruo posted a photo of herself in a swimsuit with the caption: "If I get eaten by desert animals while camping alone in the Australian outback, or die from a venomous spider bite, or get hit by a car, or die of thirst, and something unfortunate happens to me, at least you’ll still have this precious photo from my 2009 FHM magazine shoot."
After news of her death spread in Taiwan, netizens flooded the site with comments in mourning: "Why would you say something so inauspicious? We miss you so much. You were such a beautiful person, inside and out."
