A production crew jointly formed by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the CCTV-5 program "Extreme Moments" traveled to Yanzi Gully on Mount Gongga in Garzê, Sichuan to film.

From October 23 to November 3, the production crew, jointly formed by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the CCTV-5 program "Extreme Moments," successfully completed the filming of the first season of the "National Outdoor Safety Education Program" series.
This series will introduce basic knowledge and safety tips for beginners in outdoor travel, exploration, and sports through 5-minute episodes. The first season includes 13 short episodes covering topics such as pre-trip preparation, essential gear, camp setup, getting lost, hypothermia treatment, distress signaling, and outdoor environmental protection. The episodes will be broadcast consecutively on CCTV-5 in the early morning hours at the end of November after production.
The "National Outdoor Safety Education Program" series (educational videos) is a practical, educational, and informative outdoor safety video series produced through another collaboration between the Chinese Mountaineering Association and China Central Television, following the release of the thematic promotional video for the "National Outdoor Safety Education Program" during this summer. The series uses scenarios where outdoor experts and enthusiasts embark on trips together to vividly present various challenges that novice outdoor enthusiasts may face, and introduces correct solutions through the guidance and answers of outdoor experts.
During the first season’s filming, Wang Yongfeng, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Mountaineering Association, captain of the Chinese Mountaineering Team, and renowned mountaineer, played the role of the outdoor expert. He was joined by CCTV hosts Zhao Jiantong and Zhang Jie for a five-day trekking journey in Yanzi Gully, located on the eastern slope of Mount Gongga in Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan. Through real-scene experiences such as traversing the lush black forest, hiking from the 1,800-meter MOSI Plateau to the 4,000-meter base of Mount Gongga’s main peak at Haizidang, and selecting suitable campsite areas, the three guests progressively demonstrated to the audience the necessary preparations and fundamental knowledge required for a short-term outdoor adventure.
The filming took place during the most picturesque season in Yanzi Gully when the forests were ablaze with autumn colors. While conveying outdoor safety knowledge, the videos also fully showcased the breathtaking beauty of nature and the extraordinary experience brought by outdoor activities. However, due to the region's changeable weather and altitude variations, the production crew also faced numerous challenges during the over ten-day shoot, including filming in heavy rain, scorching sun, and snow, as well as carrying equipment while marching at high altitudes. The entire filming process was akin to a true outdoor exploration, all aimed at presenting the audience with more authentic and stunning visuals.
According to reports, the entire "National Outdoor Safety Education Program" series will consist of approximately 50 episodes. After completing the first season, the crew will immediately move to the next filming location to cover topics such as basic outdoor skills, rock and ice climbing, and high-altitude expeditions. It is expected that the overall filming will be completed by the end of 2013 or early 2014, and the episodes will be broadcast via platforms like CCTV-5, providing a series of engaging and practical video learning materials for outdoor enthusiasts.
