Preparations Before Departure
After taking stock of my existing travel gear and doing some calculations, I realized I still needed to purchase a few items: a travel backpack — since I’m not bringing too much, a medium-sized one will do; for the multiple days away, I’ll need to buy some disposable underwear; to make the trip more comfortable, I plan to get a pair of hiking shoes; and I’ll prepare a few foldable hangers for drying clothes. That’s roughly everything I need to bring. I placed the orders on Taobao, and they should arrive just before departure. Then there’s the flight and currency — I booked a relatively inexpensive flight with AirAsia. The most widely used currency in Cambodia is the US dollar, with about 1 USD exchanging for around 4,000 Cambodian riels. I plan to exchange a moderate amount, as riels cannot be converted into other currencies outside of Cambodia.
