On December 8, 2013, the Shenzhen International Marathon, sponsored by EZON sports watches, commenced at the South Square of the Shenzhen Civic Center. Organized by the Chinese Athletics Association and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and supported by various units in Shenzhen, this was the first international marathon ever held in Shenzhen. The full marathon covered a distance of 42.195 kilometers, attracting 10,000 professional athletes and running enthusiasts from 30 countries and regions, drawing widespread attention from all sectors. As a road-running marathon event, the Shenzhen International Marathon is not only a professional race but also a venue-free competition that showcases both the athletes' professional skills and the distinctive urban landscape of the host city.
