A few days ago, four Tianjin uncles cycled around Hainan Island to promote the protection of migratory birds. Yesterday, they just returned to Tianjin and were interviewed by our newspaper. The four uncles are named Gao Xinjian, Wang Hongshuai, Yang Yudong, and Liu Dongsheng, aged from 39 to 55, working respectively as a dock manager, mall clerk, retired police station chief, and company boss. On this trip to Hainan, they had only one identity—fellow cyclists. They are all members of the Binhai Chasing Wind Cycling Team, passionate about cycling, and are the four strongest riders in the team. During this trip to Hainan, Yang Yudong, the oldest among them, performed the best, leading the way throughout, earning admiration from many younger cyclists.
The team leader Gao Xinjian explained that the purpose of this trip was to promote the protection of migratory birds in Hainan. On November 30, the four flew to Haikou, and spent the next three days participating in a cycling festival event there. On the 2nd and 3rd of this month, they cycled along the eastern half-loop to Sanya, where they took part in a migratory bird festival at Bailu Park, promoting bird protection knowledge. “On the 6th, we got up early to return to Haikou. Although the distance wasn’t far, the road conditions were extremely poor due to ongoing repairs along the entire route,” Gao Xinjian said. At that time, none of the four backed down and they happily completed the final twenty kilometers. “Everyone felt it was an enjoyment, and this experience will become a wonderful memory.”
