According to Japan’s Sankei Shimbun on December 9, the 41st “JAL Hawaii Marathon” was held on December 8 in Honolulu, the capital of the U.S. state of Hawaii. Approximately 30,500 people took part in the event, among whom the youngest participant was 7-year-old Japanese girl Haruka Masuda, who successfully crossed the finish line with her parents.

Reportedly, Haruka Masuda is a second-grade elementary school student from Nagoya, Japan, who enjoys sports such as swimming and long-distance running. With the support of her parents, she participated in this marathon. Her parents had set a goal of “finishing in time to join the post-race celebration party,” and happily, they crossed the finish line within the estimated time—7 hours, 41 minutes, and 45 seconds. After the race, an excited Haruka said, “I really enjoyed the experience; the scenery along the way was absolutely beautiful.”
