On the occasion of the upcoming 28th International Volunteers Day, the first Hebei Youth “Volunteer Love & Goodwill Run” event was held today by Tai Ping River in Shijiazhuang’s urban water system. The event was jointly organized by the Communist Youth League Hebei Provincial Committee, the Hebei Youth Volunteers Association, the Hebei Youth Federation, the Hebei Youth Development Foundation, and the Communist Youth League Shijiazhuang Municipal Committee. Shang Libing, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Hebei Provincial Committee and President of the Hebei Youth Volunteers Association, attended the event and delivered a speech.
The event integrates public welfare and fitness concepts, with the purpose of “promoting physical and mental health, joyful public service, advocating new trends, and spreading civilization,” and the theme of “Civilized Travel, Achieving the Green Dream Together.” Over 4,800 student volunteers from some universities in Shijiazhuang, grassroots and online volunteers from youth-led organizations, as well as caring volunteers from enterprises and institutions participated in the activity. They advocated for the public to travel in a healthy and civilized manner through a group run, and showed their support for the capital’s ecological environment construction through concrete actions.
It is reported that, in order to build a platform for communication and cooperation among youth volunteer organizations, caring enterprises, beneficiaries, and young people in Hebei Province, the organizing committee decided to establish and solidify the Goodwill Run brand. Starting from the winter of 2013, one event will be held around International Volunteers Day on December 5 and China Youth Volunteer Service Day on March 5 each year, with the public welfare theme determined according to social needs and urgent demands of the public.
