China News Service, Jan. 15 — According to Hong Kong's Ming Pao, Chow Yun-fat’s iconic “God of Gamblers” look will only be unveiled when the film From Vegas to Macau debuts later this month. But if you want to see his “slimmed-down” look, you’ll need to keep an eye out for pedestrians on the street—Chow Yun-fat could easily walk right past you. Yesterday afternoon, a reporter driving by happened to spot Chow crossing the street. Wearing a full set of black athletic gear, including a black hat and black sunglasses, even his backpack was black. He was striding purposefully toward Kowloon Tong, presumably heading home on foot.
At 58, Chow Yun-fat put on quite a bit of weight while filming From Vegas to Macau, reaching 180 pounds. In contrast, co-star Nicholas Tse is very slim, and even Chapman To is thinner than Chow. Since he dons the God of Gamblers outfit again, Chow was determined to lose weight. It’s reported that Chow still eats three meals a day, but focuses on plain rice, vegetables, and seafood. Walking has also been a key part of his slimming regimen. On a regular basis, Chow takes public transport and enjoys hiking—given the time, he can walk for as long as six hours, which is how he quickly shed 30 pounds. With the movie’s promotional campaign about to kick off, Chow will have the chance to go head-to-head with 33-year-old Tse, and in his current form, he’s definitely holding his own.
