Reports say that 45-year-old Mount Kinabalu guide Nais Mohmin stated that he noticed ice on the mountain while leading a climbing team on the 15th.
He said that in his six years as a Mount Kinabalu guide, this was the first time he had seen the lake water freeze. Currently, the climbing stairs are also covered in ice, making them slippery and difficult to navigate.
Mount Kinabalu is the fifth highest peak in Southeast Asia, located in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the highest mountain in both Malaysia and on the island of Borneo, with an elevation of 4,095 meters.
