World Steak Challenge: 75% Wagyu Australian Steak Takes the Crown

The results of the second edition of the World Steak Challenge have been announced. This time, Australia not only won three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, but also claimed the highest honor — the "Champion Steak Throne" — with a New York strip steak from a 75% Wagyu lineage, earning the title of the world's most delicious steak.

The second World Steak Challenge was held in London this September, where a total of 16 countries brought 82 New York strip steaks to compete. The competition was divided into two stages. The first stage involved product evaluation, where judges first assessed the appearance, followed by cooking. After resting for five minutes, the steaks were then tasted and scored by the judges. The cooked steaks were evaluated based on appearance, aroma, tenderness, flavor, and juiciness.

Among the 82 steaks, only those that earned gold medals had the chance to compete for the sole title of Champion Steak in the second stage. The steaks that qualified for the second stage were cooked using a gas BBQ method and judged by an entirely new panel of judges. The breeds of cattle that earned medals for Australia this time included crossbred Wagyu, Black Angus, Angus, Angus/Belmont crossbreeds, and British breeds. The steak that won the title of Best Steak came from a 75% Wagyu lineage.
